Hospitality industry veteran Manoj Mathew launched his book, The World Is Carried Within, in Bengaluru on September 3, 2026, bringing together his experiences, observations and reflections from decades of working in the hospitality sector. The book offers an introspective account of Mathew’s journey through the hospitality industry, weaving together professional experiences, memorable encounters and personal reflections shaped by his years in the sector. Rather than being a conventional memoir, The World Is Carried Within explores the connections between professional life and the wider human experience.

Comprising 18 literary essays, the book is uniquely structured around original wildlife and nature photographs captured by Mathew across the forests of Coorg and Nagarahole, the pilgrimage coast of Gokarna, and the shoreline of Bentota in Sri Lanka. Each essay begins with one of these photographs, which serves as a visual starting point for reflections on nature, human behaviour, organisations, leadership and the inner life. Through these essays, Mathew draws parallels between observations in the natural world and experiences from professional and personal life. The photographs and accompanying narratives offer readers an opportunity to look beyond the visible and explore themes such as leadership, relationships, organisational dynamics and self-reflection.
The book launch brought together members of the hospitality, travel and tourism fraternity, along with industry colleagues, friends and well-wishers. The gathering celebrated not only the launch of the book but also Mathew’s longstanding contribution to the hospitality industry and his continued engagement with the worlds of nature, photography and storytelling. The World Is Carried Within reflects Mathew’s belief that experiences gathered over a lifetime remain an enduring part of who we are. By bringing together hospitality, nature, photography and personal reflection, the book offers a distinctive perspective on the journeys—both professional and personal—that shape an individual over time.
