Atmosphere Core has marked a milestone in its global expansion with the opening of Borgo Monchiero Heritage by Atmosphere in Italy. Opening on July 16, 2026, the restored 18th-century monastery is located in the UNESCO-listed Langhe region of Piedmont, bringing the company’s distinctive heritage hospitality philosophy to one of Europe’s most celebrated cultural landscapes.
The launch represents Atmosphere Core’s entry into the European market, extending its growing international portfolio alongside its established presence in the Maldives and expanding footprint across India. Developed through the shared vision of owners Franco Giampetruzzi and Gian Maria Debenedetti, the property embraces the philosophy, “Where Every Stone Holds a Story,” and becomes the second hotel under the Heritage by Atmosphere collection.
Salil Panigrahi, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Atmosphere Core, said, “The Borgo Monchiero project beautifully combines our ‘Joy of Giving’ hospitality philosophy with the Heritage by Atmosphere promise of preserving the identity of extraordinary places while transforming them into refined hospitality experiences. As we strengthen our presence across the Maldives and India while expanding into new international markets, this opening marks a significant milestone for Atmosphere Core.”
The restoration, led by architect Stefano Tardito, carefully preserves the monastery’s original stone architecture while introducing contemporary luxury. The award-winning project, recognised with the Rēgula Award 2025, features 25 elegantly designed rooms and suites spread across the historic Monastery and the Villa.
Guests can experience authentic Piedmontese cuisine curated by Executive Chef Giorgio Servetto, complemented by immersive wine tastings and private dining experiences. Wellness facilities include a panoramic pool, heated water cistern, sauna, and relaxation spaces overlooking the rolling Langhe hills. Curated experiences such as vineyard tours, truffle hunting, art trails, Vespa excursions, and visits to historic villages further immerse guests in the rich cultural heritage of the region.
