The Tourism Office of Spain (Turespaña) in Mumbai hosted an inspiring evening of dialogue, culture, and connection with its special program, “Women Travellers to Spain: A Passport to Yourself,” held on Nov 21 at IFBE, Ballard Estate. Curated as a tribute to women and the transformative power of travel, the event brought together women professionals, creators, and enthusiasts to discover Spain through a deeply personal and empowering lens.
The evening opened with a warm welcome from Elena Orland, Director, Tourism Office of Spain in India, who remarked, “Beyond the best-known destinations and itineraries, Spain is a wonderful country that truly welcomes women travellers to enjoy unique and authentic experiences that will make your travel to Spain, and to yourself, memorable.” Her words set the tone for an evening that celebrated Spain as a destination where women feel safe, inspired, and free to explore both the world and themselves.
A panel discussion followed, moderated by renowned blogger and influencer Roxanne Bamboat. The panel featured three dynamic voices: Isha Bhansali, Fashion Stylist and Consultant; Xenia Lam, Hotelier, Freelance Journalist, and General Manager at Hyatt Centric Juhu Mumbai; and Reshma Mehta, Entrepreneur. Each shared their first impressions of Spain – its colour, vibrancy, youthful energy – and how the country consistently meets and often exceeds the expectations of women travellers. They spoke enthusiastically about Spain’s coastal beauty, culinary richness, cultural festivals, and sustainable travel experiences.
A central theme of the discussion was Spain’s reputation as a safe and comfortable destination for solo women travellers. The panellists highlighted the warmth, openness, and hospitality of the Spanish society. They noted that without even knowing the local language, travellers can navigate the country with ease thanks to supportive locals and well-organised cities. They also drew parallels between Indian and Spanish cultures – especially around family values, food, festivals, and community dining – which creates an immediate sense of familiarity for the Indian visitors.
“Women Travellers to Spain: A Passport to Yourself” showcased Spain as a destination that not only celebrates beauty, culture, and authenticity but also honours women travellers by welcoming them in so many ways and forms.
