ATOAI Announces Its 17th Annual Convention in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir

The Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) has announced that its 17th Annual Adventure Convention will take place in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, from Dec 17-20, 2025. This landmark moment marks a significant moment in the revival, resistance, and renaissance of India’s adventure tourism landscape, set against one of the world’s most awe-inspiring mountain destinations.

Organised in close collaboration with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the convention will convene leading voices from across the adventure tourism ecosystem – including industry pioneers, policymakers, subject-matter experts, and key stakeholders – to deliberate on the central theme, “Indian Adventure Tourism: Safe, Sustainable, and Resilient.” The four-day gathering will examine the path forward for adventure travel in India, focusing on strengthening safety frameworks, embedding sustainability principles, and positioning the country as a global leader in responsible adventure tourism.

Set amid the snow-clad peaks, alpine meadows, and serene valleys of Kashmir, the event carries a deeper message of optimism and renewal. It underscores that Jammu & Kashmir is open, welcoming, and ready once again to take centre stage in India’s adventure narrative. The region’s timeless natural beauty now harmonises with upgraded infrastructure, robust safety protocols, and inspiring community-led tourism initiatives, offering a compelling showcase of nature, adventure, and progress working in unison.

The convention will feature a series of high-impact keynote addresses and panel discussions featuring some of the most influential names in adventure travel. Participants will also engage in specialised workshops and masterclasses focused on innovation, safety, sustainability, and skill development – critical pillars that shape the future of the sector. The event will culminate with the Awards of Excellence, recognising outstanding contributions and best practices within the adventure tourism fraternity. Delegates will further experience an immersive field visit to Pahalgam, offering firsthand insights into how eco-sensitive adventure tourism can empower local communities while safeguarding Kashmir’s pristine natural heritage.

Ajeet Bajaj, President, ATOAI, emphasised the significance of this year’s venue, “Hosting our annual convention in Jammu & Kashmir is both symbolic and significant. It reaffirms our belief that adventure in India can be both safe and sustainable, and that J&K stands as a shining example of resilience, beauty, and boundless potential. Our mission is to position India among the world’s leading adventure travel destinations – one that respects nature, empowers local people, and ensures every traveller feels inspired, secure, and connected to the land they explore.”

In keeping with ATOAI’s strong sustainability ethos, the convention will be organised as a net-zero event, aiming to minimise its environmental impact while showcasing practical models for eco-friendly tourism operations.

This year’s convention will be guided by a dynamic leadership team committed to driving a unified agenda for India’s adventurous future. The convention is chaired by Mr. Paras Loomba, Executive Committee Member & Chapter Chair – Northern Chair, with co-chairmanship from Mr. Rauf Tramboo, President, Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK), Mr. Yog Chinmoy Dutt, Executive Committee Member & Co-Chair – Western & Central Region Chapter; and Mr. Arvind Bharadwaj, Executive Committee Member & Co-Chair – Northern Region. Their combined vision and collaborative leadership reflect the strength and unity of India’s adventure community, bridging geographies and building trust while reaffirming that Jammu & Kashmir is ready, resilient, and radiant with opportunity.

Reflecting on the significance of the event, Paras Loomba, Convention Chairman, noted, “Kashmir has always been the crown of Indian adventure tourism. Reviving its legacy means rekindling India’s spirit of responsible exploration, resilience, and unity.”

The 17th annual adventure convention is poised to become a defining milestone in India’s tourism journey – a celebration of courage, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to building a safe, sustainable, and inclusive adventure ecosystem across the Himalayas and beyond.
