Tamil Nadu Showcases Its Rich Tourism Offerings at WTM 2025

Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India, renowned for its ancient temples, rich history, literature, architecture, diverse landscapes, and vibrant cultural heritage, participated in the World Travel Market (WTM) London from November 4 to 6, 2025.

Tamil Nadu shares a longstanding relationship with London, shaped by centuries of cultural, educational, and economic exchange. From early maritime trade and colonial-era interactions to contemporary global partnerships, the bond between the two regions has continued to deepen. London is also home to a thriving Tamil diaspora that actively preserves and promotes the state’s traditions, cuisine, and festivals—strengthening people-to-people connections and broadening cultural appreciation. With increasing interest in heritage tourism, film collaborations, and business engagement, Tamil Nadu stands as a compelling gateway for UK travellers seeking immersive cultural experiences.

The Tamil Nadu delegation was led by Dr. K. Manivasan, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to the Government for Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowments, and Mr. T. Christuraj, I.A.S., Director of Tamil Nadu Tourism and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC). The delegation included leading tour operators, destination management companies, and hoteliers from the state to facilitate B2B discussions with key global industry stakeholders. This year, the Tamil Nadu Wilderness Corporation participated as a co-exhibitor, highlighting the state’s extensive ecotourism and adventure offerings curated by the Forest Department, including the popular trekking circuits under the “Trek Tamil Nadu” initiative.

Tamil Nadu Tourism has been a consistent participant at WTM London, recognising the United Kingdom as a high-potential source market for inbound tourism. The dedicated Tamil Nadu Pavilion showcased the state’s comprehensive tourism portfolio, serving as a platform to strengthen partnerships, attract investment, and promote collaboration across sectors. Visitors engaged with opportunities spanning heritage tourism, ecotourism, adventure travel, and cultural experiences—each underscoring Tamil Nadu’s distinct appeal to international travellers. “WTM continues to be a vital catalyst for promoting Tamil Nadu on the global stage,” said Dr. K. Manivasan.

Offering further insights, Mr. T. Christuraj stated that the Tourism Department is participating in an exclusive roadshow in Paris on November 7, 2025, bringing along co-exhibitors and stakeholders for focused B2B interactions. Earlier, Tamil Nadu Tourism participated in IFTM Top Resa in September with an exclusive pavilion showcasing the state’s tourism assets. The Paris roadshow is positioned as a follow-up initiative to sustain momentum in the French market and increase inbound tourist arrivals from France.
