Tourism Booms in Goa: Over 54 Lakh Visitors in First Half of 2025

Goa’s tourism industry is riding a major high in 2025, welcoming an impressive 54.55 lakh tourists between January and June, according to the latest figures released by the Department of Tourism. Despite summer heatwaves, the coastal state has seen consistent growth in footfall, underscoring its resilient appeal among both Indian and international travellers.

Of the total, 51.84 lakh were domestic visitors, while 2.71 lakh came from overseas—many from the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia—thanks to improved connectivity and streamlined travel processes.

January led the charge with 10.56 lakh arrivals, followed closely by strong numbers in February (9.05 lakh) and March (8.89 lakh). Even during peak summer, tourism held steady: April (8.42 lakh), May (9.27 lakh), and June (8.34 lakh) saw robust turnout across solo, family, and group categories.

Tourism Director Shri Kedar Naik attributed this record-breaking performance to “a multi-pronged approach” combining aggressive marketing, participation in global trade shows, and regenerative tourism initiatives. The state’s push to promote hinterland tourism, heritage experiences, wellness retreats, and cultural festivals has significantly expanded its appeal beyond beaches.

Strategic investments in infrastructure upgrades, airport enhancements, and hospitality development have also played a vital role in handling the surge while maintaining service quality.

With the monsoon season bringing its own charm and a packed calendar of cultural and sporting events ahead, officials anticipate the momentum will continue into the second half of the year. Goa’s evolving tourism landscape stands as a testament to visionary planning, stakeholder collaboration, and the timeless magnetism of the destination.
