Combining refined hospitality with the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness, the resort is redefining luxury in the Northeast. From curated wellness experiences rooted in traditional practices to immersive local encounters that celebrate the indigenous heritage, Mayfair Spring Valley offers a gateway to meaningful travel that aligns perfectly with India’s broader vision of becoming a global wellness destination.

Voyager’s World speaks to Mr. Pardeep Kumar Siwach, Deputy General Manager–Accommodation, Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, in an exclusive interview.

How do you see the Northeast differentiating itself in the luxury tourism market compared to other regions?

The Northeast delivers a distinct luxury travel experience, away from the urban rush amidst the calm and the greenery, offering travellers the opportunity to connect with the Assamese culture and nature. Today’s luxury travellers actively seek authenticity, calm, and meaningful engagement, and the Northeast is perfect for that. What makes this region stand out is its untouched beauty, showcasing pristine landscapes, clean air, welcoming communities, and living traditions.

At Mayfair Spring Valley in Guwahati, we bring all of this to life with refined hospitality, with beautifully designed private villas and cottages nestled in the hills, where guests can slow down, breathe easier, and reconnect with nature. Travellers can have an enriching experience from luxury spa treatments and scenic dining to family-focused activities with over 50 acres of green valley. We define a kind of luxury that feels rare, rooted, and unforgettable. That’s how the Northeast and Mayfair Spring Valley offer a kind of luxury that’s hard to find elsewhere.

How is Mayfair integrating Assamese heritage into the design and experience of its properties?

We’ve made sure that the look and feel of the resort truly reflects our location. You’ll find traditional Assamese patterns in the textiles, and we have used local materials like bamboo and cane throughout the furniture and architectural detailing. It’s a subtle but deeply thoughtful design to make sense of the place.

Food plays a major role in Assamese culture, and our menu includes traditional Assamese dishes. We make it a point to share the stories and cultural significance behind them on our menu and make sure guests know the story behind them. Even our welcome rituals borrow from local customs, offering guests an authentic and warm introduction to the region. Our aim is not just to provide a five-star stay but to make sure guests staying with us are immersed in the spirit of Assam, its heritage, hospitality, and natural charm, so they leave feeling enriched by a genuine cultural experience.

In what ways can celebrating Bihu enhance the guest experience at high-end resorts?

Celebrating a festival like Bihu at the resort allows guests to experience local culture in an authentic and memorable way. It’s more than a performance; it’s the overall atmosphere from the music, the food, and the energy of the celebration. At Mayfair Spring Valley, we curated a special Bihu event that immersed guests in Assam’s rich heritage, from traditional welcome and regional festive dishes to live performances by local artists.

Many guests have told us that it is the highlight of their trip. For many, it was their first time experiencing Bihu, and they truly appreciated the authenticity and thoughtfulness we brought to the experience. Even in a high-end luxury setting, moments like these create meaningful cultural connections. We look forward to expanding these celebrations in future festivals, as they add a deeper sense of place and purpose to every holiday.

What unique venues and offerings does Mayfair provide for high-end weddings and corporate events in the region?

Mayfair Spring Valley has quickly emerged as a preferred destination for luxury weddings and corporate events in the region. One of our key strengths lies in the variety of venues we offer, from the elegant Kaziranga Banquet Hall and Grand Ballroom spread over 30,000 sq. ft, which is known to be the largest in the eastern region, to expansive open lawns, to private villas and indoor banquet spaces. We can host everything from intimate family gatherings to large-scale destination weddings, including events with up to 10,000 guests. The resort features 260 keys, making it the largest and most premium property in Eastern India.

The resort’s setting is a big plus, surrounded by the hills, far from the city’s noise, yet easily accessible from Guwahati. Wedding couples love the privacy, natural beauty, and end-to-end support we provide in décor, catering, and planning. On the corporate side, we regularly host MICE events, leadership offsites, strategy meetings, and wellness retreats. Our tranquil environment helps teams focus, while the resort’s amenities, like multiple swimming pools, the spa, and the wellness centre, offer a layer of relaxation and rejuvenation. This unique balance of functionality and experience makes us stand out. Our dedicated team ensures everything runs smoothly, allowing guests to focus fully on the purpose of their visit, whether they have come to celebrate or on business.

What’s driving Gen Z and Millennials to turn traditional pilgrimages into curated “shrinecations”?

Younger travellers, especially Gen Z and Millennials, are redefining spiritual journeys. They don’t just visit temples. They are seeking spirituality with purpose for personal well-being, cultural discovery, and a touch of comfort. Many visit the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati for its powerful divine energy and then look for ways to unwind.

Travellers might take a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra, explore local cuisine, or stay somewhere peaceful like our Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, as they want a holistic traveling experience that feels meaningful.

At Mayfair Spring Valley, we regularly host guests who come for a pilgrimage and then choose to extend their trip into a relaxing retreat. They actively seek a balance between spiritual purpose and leisure, driving a growing trend of “shrinecations,” that is, a thoughtful blend that helps people reconnect with themselves while immersing in the culture around them.
