WGH Hotels & Resorts Welcomes Kerala’s Industry Minister to Flagship Kochi Project Site

WGH Hotels & Resorts Pvt. Ltd., the hospitality arm of the diversified World Group, welcomed the Hon. Minister for Industries, Government of Kerala, Mr. P. Rajeev, to the site of its upcoming flagship project in Kochi. The visit marks a key milestone for the group, as this landmark luxury development was among the prestigious projects showcased at the Kerala Global Investment Meet, in alignment with the state’s vision for sustainable and experience-driven tourism.

The World Group made its foray into Kerala’s tourism and hospitality sector in 2012 with the acquisition of World Backwaters, Alleppey. Since then, WGH Hotels & Resorts has grown its portfolio to include distinctive properties in prime destinations such as Alleppey, Munnar, and Thekkady. Now, the group is making bold strides with new developments in Kochi, Varkala, Trivandrum, and Ashtamudi—including an exclusive wellness resort. Each project is crafted to international standards while deeply rooted in Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.

During the minister’s visit, WGH will present the master plan and design philosophy for the Kochi project, which is scheduled to launch on January 1, 2028. This luxury destination is set to redefine hospitality benchmarks by integrating modern infrastructure with authentic Kerala experiences.

Mr. J. Jayakrishnan, Director of World Group and WGH Hotels & Resorts, expressed his sincere gratitude for the government’s continued support and progressive, investment-friendly policies.

“Kerala’s infrastructure development and forward-looking tourism strategies are perfectly aligned with our vision. Our projects are designed to promote responsible and sustainable tourism while offering guests an immersive experience of Kerala’s lifestyle and traditions,” said Mr. Jayakrishnan.

In line with its long-term commitment to industry development, WGH also plans to establish a hospitality college designed to nurture around 200 professionals annually, empowering local talent and contributing to the global standards of the tourism industry. The Varkala and Ashtamudi resorts are set to welcome guests by 2027, further positioning WGH as a major force in shaping Kerala’s tourism future.

WGH Hotels & Resorts remains committed to supporting Kerala’s journey toward becoming a global tourism hub while staying rooted in the principles of sustainability, cultural integrity, and community empowerment.
