Jharkhand Tourism steals the show at IFFI

The spectacular state of Jharkhand grabbed the center stage at the 49th International Film Festival of India. The fest, which is being held at Panaji, Goa, began on November 20 and will conclude on November 28.

The festival showcased 212 films from over 68 countries. In the Indian film category, movies such as Udaan and the famed sports biopic, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, stole the hearts of thousands of movie enthusiasts who attended the fest. These all-time favorites were shot in Jharkhand. Movies such as Death in the Gunj, Ranchi Diaries, and Begum Jaan were also screened.

Amit Khare, Secretary, Information & Broadcasting; Nidhi Khare, IAS; Chaitanya Prasad, Director, DFF, Santhil, OSD, DFF, and Baidhyanath Sharma Pankaj, Deputy Director, Jharkhand Tourism; Sayed Rashid, Assistant Director IPRD; Subita Dhan, Assistant Director, IPRD, inaugurate the Jharkhand Pavilion at the the 49th International Film Festival of India in Goa.

Jharkhand is home to some of the biggest celebrities, including cricketer MS Dhoni, actress Priyanka Chopra, archer Deepika Kumari, actor R. Madhavan, and famed movie director, Imtiyaz Ali.

Jharkhand is vastly unexplored. However, as visibly evident, Bollywood has been focusing on the region and promoting the sights and sounds of the state through movies. Nastik, an Arjun Rampal film, is being shot in Daltonganj, and Japla, a Sunil Shetty-starrer, Koylanchal, will be covering different areas of Jharkhand.
Jharkhand has been selected as the State of Focus for 49thIFFI 2018 and Jharkhand Day will be celebrated on November 24 as part of the festival.
