Ministry of Tourism and ATOAI to Host Adventure Guide Training Programme and National Seminar in Bhopal

The Regional Office (West & Central) of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), will organise a four-day Adventure Guide Training Programme and National Seminar in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from March 17 to 20. This initiative strengthens safety standards, builds professional capacity, and encourages strategic collaboration in India’s rapidly evolving adventure tourism sector. By equipping adventure tourism professionals with advanced safety knowledge and enabling dialogue between industry stakeholders and policymakers, the programme aims to support the sustainable and responsible development of adventure tourism in the country.

The first three days of the programme, from March 17 to 19, will focus on an intensive Adventure Guide Training Programme designed for professionals working in demanding outdoor environments such as trekking, mountaineering and water-based adventure activities. The training will emphasise wilderness medical response, emergency preparedness and risk management, ensuring that participants are better prepared to handle critical situations in remote or high-risk locations. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and the Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board are supporting the training programme. VIVO Healthcare and EKO India will conduct the sessions, two organisations widely recognised for their expertise in specialised safety training and outdoor leadership education.

VIVO Healthcare, a leading provider of simulation-based medical training in India, will deliver modules on First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Support (BLS) tailored specifically for wilderness and remote-area scenarios. Through immersive, hands-on training, participants will learn to stabilise and manage life-threatening emergencies until professional medical assistance is available. EKO India, known for its work in outdoor leadership development, environmental education and wilderness safety training, will conduct sessions focused on risk management and operational safety in natural environments. The training will also cover wildlife awareness, snake rescue techniques, bird identification and the management of human–wildlife interactions, aligning with international best practices in adventure education and field safety.

Upon completion of the programme, participants will acquire practical skills in trauma assessment, wilderness medical response, evacuation planning and the implementation of safety protocols. These capabilities will enable them to function as trained first responders and responsible leaders within adventure tourism operations. The four-day programme will conclude on March 20 with a half-day Adventure Tourism Seminar themed “Adventure Strategy for a New Era.” The seminar will bring together tour operators, adventure clubs, training organisations, policymakers and industry experts to discuss the future direction of adventure tourism in India and explore strategic pathways for sustainable sectoral growth.

Key discussions during the seminar will focus on strengthening safety frameworks and risk mitigation protocols in adventure tourism, developing effective governance and regulatory frameworks for adventure activities, and aligning industry practices with international safety standards. The role of emerging technologies and artificial intelligence in enhancing tourism experiences will also be explored, alongside discussions on policy support, investment opportunities and destination development. The event is expected to bring together around 100 participants, including ATOAI member operators, adventure clubs, training institutes, eco-tourism stakeholders and hospitality partners. Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and the Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board will also participate in the programme.

Through initiatives such as this, the Ministry of Tourism and ATOAI continue to promote safety, professional development and industry collaboration, strengthening India’s position as a globally competitive destination for responsible and sustainable adventure tourism.
