India Strengthens International Events Infrastructure with Goa’s New Expo Centre

The International Convention and Expo Centre, Goa, was officially inaugurated during India Energy Week 2026, marking a major milestone in India’s contemporary civic and institutional infrastructure landscape. Timed to coincide with one of the world’s largest global energy gatherings, the launch positions the venue as a premier platform for international dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

The project has been realised with strong support from the Government of Goa, reinforcing a collective vision to elevate Goa’s standing as an international destination for conferences, institutional engagement, and high-value events. Project ownership rests with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, which envisioned the centre as a world-class platform for global engagement and institutional excellence. The initiative was guided by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, highlighting its strategic relevance to India’s international energy dialogue.

Project management, engineering coordination, and execution oversight were undertaken by Engineers India Limited, ensuring seamless integration across architectural, structural, and building systems. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, also played a key stakeholder role, aligning the development with the country’s broader vision to strengthen convention infrastructure and position India as a leading global meetings destination.

The centre has been designed by CP Kukreja Architects, a multidisciplinary architecture and urban design practice with more than five decades of experience and over 1,500 projects delivered across India and more than 40 countries.

Reflecting on the project, Dikshu C. Kukreja, Managing Principal of the firm, stated that the venue was conceived as “a civic setting where global dialogue could unfold within an architecture deeply rooted in place, climate, and culture,” adding that hosting India Energy Week at the venue demonstrates the role of thoughtful design in enabling meaningful collaboration and long-term impact. He noted that the project aligns with the vision of Viksit Bharat articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The firm is known for shaping landmark projects of national significance, including Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the India Pavilion at Expo 2020, Dubai, Gautam Buddha University, Vallabh Bhawan, Madhya Pradesh, Aerocity, New Delhi, as well as heritage landscapes such as Rashtrapati Niketan and Rashtrapati Udyan.
